About Harsha MadhrangaTalented photographer Harsha Madhuranga Jayasekara clinched a handful of accolades at the ‘First Fotostar Circuit 2008', dubbed the biggest photographic competition in Sri Lanka . Jayasekara won three gold medals in the Monochrome, Experimental Digital creations and Speed\Movement categories. He also bagged the silver medal in Speed\Movement and the bronze in the Experimental category along with a merit award for Portrait. Jayasekara received his accolades at the ‘Photostar Night' held at the Galadari Hotel yesterday. He had submitted around 20 photographs for the competition and is the only contestant to acquire such a large number of prizes.
Photographer Harsha Madhuranga ![]() Harsha is a product of Nalanda College , Colombo . He had a passion for photography from his school days and had taken up the subject at the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka (ANPAS) in 2001. He had emerged as the batch top in the three-year diploma course and is employed as a lecturer in ANPAS. He had won a FIAP bronze medal from the Netherlands at the 13th International Photographic exhibition held in 2005. “It was after 18 years that a Sri Lankan contestant had won a medal at this event,” he said. The talented photographer had also taken part in ‘Aperture 2008' a photographic competition organised by the Architecture Faculty of the Katubedda University , Moratuwa, and had won a gold medal, a bronze medal and three merit awards. His photographs had been exhibited in countries like Austria , Brazil , Qatar , Slovenia , Hong Kong and UK . One of his portraits exhibiting a picture of an old man was among the best 100 portraits elected at an event in Slovenia . “I wish to learn more on the subject and brush up my talents. I hope to hold my first solo exhibition in Sri Lanka next year,” Jayasekara expressed on his future plans. |
